Since 1985, the factory has been located at Zwettestraat 34 in Leeuwarden. The annual production is 60,000 tons with an expansion option to 75,000 tons. Since 1985, more than 1 million tons of tinplate scrap has been 100% recycled into pure steel and pure tin.
In 2011, Metaalhandel De Horne entered into a strategic alliance with the Dutch Onttinningsfabriek.
